Sirodhara

Sirodhara is the process in which medicated oil, milk, buttermilk or Kvatha is poured in a continuous stream of drip on the head, especially on the forehead in a specific manner.

Depending upon the drug components Dhārā is known by different names viz. Takradhara (Buttermilk), Kshiradhara (Milk), Tailadhara (Oil), Kväthadhara (Kashayam) and Jaladhāra (Water).

Indications

  • Stress and Psychosomatic disorders such as IBS (irritable bowel syndrome),

  •  Neurological disorders (headache, epilepsy etc.)

  •  Psychiatric disorders (psychosis, neurosis, insomnia etc.)

  • Psoriasis, eczema

  •  Hypertension and alcoholism.

  • Facial palsy

  • Loss of memory etc.
